Model of a Made Mast

anonymous, c. 1780 - c. 1840

Ronde mast met vierkante top, hommer met oren en rijschaal. De mast zelf bestaat uit zes delen: twee zware, een voor en een achter, vormen de mastkoning, binnenin met lassen verbonden; een brede wang aan weerszijden is eveneens met lassen aan de mastkoning zijn verbonden, en twee smalle wangen ronden het geheel af. De delen worden door kuipbanden bijeengehouden. De hommer is een verbreding van de brede wangen. Ter hoogte van de hommer wordt de mast vierkant. Voorop de mast is een rijschaal aangebracht.

Entry

Construction model of a round mast with a square head, hounds with bibbs and a rubbing paunch.

The mast itself is made of six parts: two heavy parts, one to the front and one at the back, form the spindle, joined with scarfs inside. A broad side fish to either side is joined to the spindle with scarfs as well, and a thin side fish to either side, complete the round mast. The parts are held together with mast hoops. The hounds are a widening of the broad side fishes. Above the hounds the mast becomes square shaped. The mast has a rubbing paunch.
