Model of a Made Mast

anonymous, c. 1780 - c. 1840

Ronde mast met vierkante top. De mast zelf bestaat uit acht delen: twee zware, een voor en een achter, vormen de mastkoning, binnenin met lassen verbonden; drie wangen aan weerszijden, waarvan de middelste eveneens met lassen aan de mastkoning zijn verbonden, ronden het geheel af. De delen worden door kuipbanden bijeengehouden. Ter hoogte van de hommer en de mars wordt de mast vierkant; daarboven zijn de hoeken iets afgerond. Qua samenstelling is deze mast vergelijkbaar met NG-MC-126. Dit model kan uiteengenomen worden.

Entry

Construction model of a round mast with a square head and hounds.

The mast itself is made of eight parts; two heavy parts, one to the front and one at the back, form the spindle, joined with scarfs inside; three side fishes to either side, of which the middle ones are joined to the spindle with scarfs as well, complete the round mast. The parts are held together with mast hoops. At the height of the hounds and at the top, the mast becomes square shaped; above it the corners are slightly rounded off.

The composition of this mast is comparable to model NG-MC-126.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 132. The model can be taken apart.
