Model van een excentrieke stopper voor zeilschoten, bestaande uit twee schijven in een houten blok. Een van de schijven is excentrisch en heeft een handvat of korvijnagel. Door de schoot tussen de twee schijven te klemmen, wordt de schoot gestopt.

Entry

Model of a stopper serving as a jamming cleat for sheets. It consists of two sheaves set in a piece of wood; one of the sheaves is eccentric and has a handle or belaying pin. The sheet is jammed by squeezing between the two sheaves.

A.A. Bolken, Director of the Navy dockyard in Amsterdam, proposed this stopper for sheets in 1856.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 631; HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, Exh. 18/11/1856 N112, 17/12/1856 N4. The design is derived from Saxby’s design of an eccentric stopper (model NG-MC-626).
