Man catcher
anoniem, c. 1600 - c. 1699
Man catchers were used for arresting criminals. A member of the city guard would grab the neck, or rather the arm, of the offender between the weapon’s two blades. The barbs made it impossible for the criminal to escape from the catcher without seriously wounding himself.
