Mal voor het testen van de doorboring van slagpijpjes. Het bestaat uit een klokvormig massief koperen lichaam, waardoor een ijzeren buis gaat van boven naar beneden; in deze buis is een pen aangebracht, waarop het slagpijpje wordt geplaatst. Een eveneens klokvormige deksel met geribde rand bovenaan wordt over het geheel heen geschroefd; de inwendige vorm hiervan past precies om de rand van het slagpijpje heen. De mal is voorzien van een koperen slagpijpje.

Entry

Gauge for testing the boring of priming tubes.

The gauge consists of a bell-shaped body of solid brass, with an iron tube running through it from top to bottom. Set in the iron tube is a pin on which the priming tube is placed. A bell-shaped cover with a ribbed ring near the top is screwed over it. Its internal shape fits precisely over the rim of the priming tube. A copper priming tube has been added to the gauge.

This gauge was used to test the concentricity of priming tubes, and was called a ‘concentric calibre’. Its exact use has not yet been established.
