Robert Mapplethorpe, 1981
Mapplethorpe photographed the human body, or parts thereof, often against a geometric, abstract background, as can be seen next to this in the naked photo of George Bradshaw. Mapplethorpe was a perfectionist, so produced many of his photos in his studio, giving him total control over composition and lighting.
