Landscape, Manipulated

Aat Veldhoen, 1997-10 - 1998-12

Around 1977, Veldhoen discovered the expressive possibilities of the ‘manipulated Polaroid’: he scratched into a wet Polaroid with the blunt tip of a pencil, a file, or the back of a brush. Veldhoen heightened the miniature paintings with colourful and fluorescent acrylic paints, sometimes even with nail varnish and lipstick. ‘Manipulating’ is putting it mildly.
