Bobbin Lace Collar with Tassels on Double Cords

These collars were the ultimate finishing touch to a rich outfit in the 17th century. Many shapes were reserved specifically for men or women, yet the refined material was enjoyed by everyone who could afford it. Flat collars, for example, were primarily a male accessory. Sometimes they show remarkably delicate lace patterns, full of curls and flourishes.

  • Description

    Kraag van naturelkleurig kloskant. Het kloskantpatroon is geïnspireerd op Venetiaanse naaldkant. Halfrond model, met op de hoeken aan de binnenrand dubbele koorden met akers aan de uiteinden. Het symmetrische patroon bestaat uit grote bloemen waartussen krullende bladeren. Rond de motieven die zijn geklost in linnenslag zijn reliëfcontouren aangebracht met koorden. In en tussen bloemen en bladeren zijn siergronden met hier en daar versieringen in vormslag toegepast. De kraag is mogelijk van prins Willem III geweest.
