Bowl with coin motif. China. Song period (960 - 1279). Glazed stoneware, Cizhou ware. The decoration showing overlapping circles is known as a coin motif; Chinese coins have a square hole in the centre. Verburgt bequest.

  • Description

    Kom van steengoed met een bolvormig lichaam, gedeeltelijk bedekt met een wit slib. De lijnen in het glazuur hebben een enigszins rode kleur. Op de buitenwand een brede band met een ingegrifte decoratie met lijnen en gearceerde ruitvormen. Vijf proenen op de bodem. De onderzijde en de voetring zijn ongeglazuurd. Cizhou.
