Isabella Toewater (?) and her husband, Tjarko Beukema

anonymous, c. 1870 - c. 1875

The lack of identifying information on many 19th-century photographs has over time frequently created confusion and uncertainty about their exact subject matter. This photo and the one beside it supposedly show Tjarko Beukema and Isabella Toewater. But the women look nothing alike. Or might that be Isabella lurking on the right hand side of the house? The identity of the other individuals is unknown.
