Barbara van den Broeck based this impressive depiction of The Last Judgement on a painting by her father. Depictions of this important Biblical subject were popular, and such monumental prints, which were often mounted on the wall much like paintings, served a devotional purpose. Aiming at a wide audience, the plate was provided with a quote from the Bible in three languages.
