Zwart-wit stapelmodel (stuurboord) van een kano. Hij heeft twee spitse uiteinden. De gebogen voorsteven komt flink omhoog en is voorzien van een klamp. Aan de rechte vallende een roer met afgerond roeblad en helmstok.

Explanatory note

  • Een tambangan is een klein roeivaartuigje bestemd voor het vervoeren van passagiers. Deze tambangan werd blijkens het opschrift voor de Dienst Stoomwezen in Oost-Indië gebouwd. Er is geen verdere informatie over het model bekend.

Entry

Wooden ‘bread-and-butter’ style half block model of the starboard side of a double-ended canoe, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard painted white.

The side of the vessel is painted black. The inside is closed flush at the gunwale. The stem is curved and rises considerably, and has a cleat at the end. The sternpost is straight and the model has a rudder with a rounded blade and a hand tiller.

According to the inscription on the model this tambangan, a small rowing boat used for the transport of passengers, was built for the Pilot Service in the Dutch East Indies.
