Gepolychromeerd en volledig beplankt mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een driemast schroefstoomschip, met negen grote en twee kleine poorten. Bijna verticale, rechte voorsteven met galjoen en krul als schegbeeld, composiet kraanbalk. Elliptisch hek met Rijkswapen, Mangin-schroef en roer met roerkap. Het model heeft een kort bakdek, klein campanjedek en een brug dwars over het hoofddek vlak voor de uitschuifbare schoorsteen. Het model is voorzien van alle rusten met puttings. De zeeg is bijna vlak, een reehout. Rondspant. Schaal 1:50 (schaal op model).

Explanatory note

  • Het schroefstoomfregat van 12 stukken Zilveren Kruis, lang 59 m, werd op de Rijkswerf te Amsterdam in 1867-1869 gebouwd. Het schip reisde tweemaal naar Oost-Indië, waar het in 1889 uit dienst werd gesteld en voor de sloop verkocht.

Entry

Polychromed and fully planked wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a three-masted screw steamer, mounted on a rectangular white, wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is closed and painted black. Nine large and two small recessed gun ports are indicated in the bulwark. The bow features an almost straight stem with a beakhead ending in a decorative, gold-painted scroll. The stern is elliptical and bears the coat of arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Below the stern an aperture for the four-blade, Mangin-type screw propeller and a rudder with a rudder cap are indicated. The model has a short foredeck, a small poop and a bridge running along the main deck, just ahead of the single telescopic funnel. The sheer is almost flat. One sheer rail is indicated. The hull is round and painted a metallic bronze colour below the waterline. The model has three sets of channels rigged with chainplates. The position of three masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form.

The 12-gun screw steamer Zilveren Kruis, 59 metres long, was built at the Navy dockyard in Amsterdam from 1867 to 1869. Zilveren Kruis sailed to the Dutch East Indies twice, where it was finally decommissioned and sold for breaking up in 1889.1A.J.
