Entry

Wooden half block model of the port side of a two-masted vessel, mounted on a framed, rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the vessel is closed, smooth and without details. On the closed deck are hatches and a deckhouse. The stern is elliptical and has a closed, flat transom. The sheer is virtually flat. The hull is V-shaped. The keel drops significantly towards the extremely sharp stern. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form. Both masts are raked considerably. The bowsprit is fitted to a knighthead.

According to Obreen, this model represents a North American pilot vessel.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 470.
