Gepolychromeerd mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. De huid boven het barkhout is gesloten. De scheg is laag en geeft ruimte voor een kanon op rolpaard in de boeg. Het dek is gesloten en heeft inkepingen voor vijftien roeibanken, op het dolboord vijftien roeidollen; het achterdek is verlaagd en heeft in de zijde een bank als in een kajuit. Platte spiegel; recht roer met helmstok in de kajuit. Zeeg naar beide einden oplopend, een barkhout en een reehout. Gepiekt rondspant, laag en vlak, scherp in voor- en achterschip.

Explanatory note

  • Dit model stelt een kanonneerschoener voor; het lijkt erg op de zogenaamde kanonneergaleien. Voor het bedienen van het kanon zou men de fokkemast moeten verwijderen in verband met het recuul.

Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a framed rectangular black, wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side is planked. The beakhead is low, with room for one gun on a carriage placed in the bow. The deck is closed and has fifteen thwarts (all missing), on the gunwale fifteen thole pins are fitted. The aft deck is lowered and has a bench in the side, suggesting a cockpit. The sheer rises towards both ends. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated, both are painted black. The stern has a square tuck and a straight rudder with a tiller in the cockpit. The hull is S-bottomed, though flat and low, with sharp bows and painted white below the waterline. The position of two masts is shown in a truncated form.

This schooner is very similar to the so-called ‘war galleys’ (see models NG-MC-666, NG-MC-668 and NG-MC-669). Because of the recoil of the gun the foremast would have to be removed to properly operate the gun. According to Obreen this particular schooner gunboat was built in 1803.1J.M.
