Gepolychromeerd mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. De huid boven het barkhout is gesloten, acht geschilderde geschutpoorten op één dek. Voorschip uitgewerkt met galjoen en schegbeeld van een vergulde krul, de kraanbalk ontbreekt. Gewrongen spiegel, hol wulf, hek met lijst en half Rijkswapen, geen zijgalerij; roer met ronde roerkoning (Soetermeers versie). Zeeg bijna vlak, één barkhout en één reehout. Gepiekt rondspant. Beide masten hellen aanzienlijk achterover. Schaal 1:40 (schaal op model).

Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard with a stand.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side is planked and painted black. Eight red and green gun ports are situated on one continuous deck. A horizontal white band highlights the gun deck. At the forecastle and stern two raised bulwarks with square hances are indicated. The sheer is almost flat. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated. The bow features a beakhead that ends in a decorative, gold-painted scroll. The cathead is missing. The stern has a round tuck and a hollow counter. The taffrail is decorated with carvings and bears the coat of arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Below the stern a round-headed, Soetermeer-type rudder is indicated. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in truncated form. Both masts rake considerably.

The 14-gun aviso brig Snelheid, 28 metres long, was built by Cornelis Soetermeer (1782-1842) in Flushing from 1830 to 1833.1J.M.
