Granaat-kartets bestaande uit een houten cylindervormig lichaam en een houten deksel met opstaande rand beslagen met blik. In het deksel zijn vier slagpijpjes aangebracht en in het midden een gat. Binnen in de granaat is wat steenkoolgruis achtergebleven en een kort eindje rotan.

  • Deze door opperkonstapel P.J. Missiaan uitgevonden granaat-kartets werd in augustus 1859 te Willemsoord beproefd. Kennelijk zonder succes, want de kartets werd niet ingevoerd.

Entry

Shrapnel shell consisting of a cylindrical wooden container and a wooden cover with a rim of sheet iron. In the cover four percussion priming tubes are set and in the middle there is an extra hole. The shell contains some coal remains and a short piece of rattan.

It is not clear whether this object is a model or the real shell. This invention by Master Gunner P.J. Missiaan was tested in Willemsoord in August 1859.1HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, inv. no. 3990. It probably failed, since there is no further mention of it.
