View of an unidentified city

anonymous, c. 1865 - c. 1875

Many Japanese cities have changed beyond recognition over the past 150 years. That makes it difficult to be sure which one is pictured here. Since only the Bauduins themselves, and their friends and family, saw these photos, there was no reason to write anything on the back. A verbal explanation sufficed. That is, until years later, when there was no one left to explain.
