Figure group of a shepherd, and shepherdess near a ruin

Weesper porseleinfabriek, c. 1764

This charming figure group is entirely Rococo in style. It was modelled by Nicolas Gauron, who had trained in Tournai and then worked in Weesp for a few years. Gauron’s modelling must have been a great success: the quality of his works was higher than what had been achieved in Weesp until then. The two figures were later also produced as individual statuettes.

    Groep van porselein (biscuit) voorstellende een fluitspelende herder en een luitspelende herderin met schapen voor een stuk architectuur bestaande uit een halve boog, een zuil en een stuk muur. Links op de zuil zit een Amor-figuur en rechts op een muur staat een vaas. Onder de vaas is een dolfijn. Niet gemerkt. De holle bodem vertoont drie kegels.
