Three Vases

Meissener Porzellan Manufaktur, c. 1730 - c. 1735

Meissen porcelain vases were often sold in sets and displayed on mantelpieces or furniture. These sets consisted of at least three vases, but often five or more. The porcelain is decorated with painted caricatural Chinese figures in shallow, imaginary landscapes. This set was produced in the workshop of Johann Gregorius Höroldt, the most important painter to ever work at Meissen.

    Zeshoekige vaas van beschilderd porselein. De vaas heeft een hoge voet waarop een nodusachtig gedeelte en het naar boven uitlopende vaaslichaam. De voet is versierd met afwisselend paarse en rode, de nodus met kleurige Höroldt-chinoiserieën. Het vaaslichaam is versierd met grootfigurige Höroldt-chinoiserieën op consoles van blad- en netwerk waarin uitgespaarde vierpassen waarin landschappen. De vaas is gemerkt.
