Crafting lacquerwork with inlaid mother-of-pearl is a lengthy process, requiring repeated actions and a great deal of patience. Following the application of numerous layers of lacquer onto the wood is the final, crucial stage, namely the inlay work. The mother-of-pearl is laid down in the desired pattern, and brushed over again with several coats of lacquer. After the final coat, the object is polished, revealing the natural lustre of the mother-of-pearl.
