Lidded Jar

anonymous, c. 900 - c. 999

This lidded jar has a green glaze known as celadon. The vessel belongs to Yue stoneware, which marked the inception of celadon glazing. The ornamentation consists of two rows of flower petals incised in the body of the jar. The cover, with its dual purpose as a reservoir, is embellished with the finely carved sepals of a flower.

    Dekselpot van steengoed met een bolvormig lichaam, bedekt met een groen glazuur. Op de wand van de pot twee rijen met ingegrifte bloembladmotieven. Op de deksel een band met ingegrifte bladmotieven. Celadon (Yue).
