This series of six prints, illustrating sayings about Fortune, is devoted to one of the major themes of life. The series was probably created by Coornhert, who was a writer as well as a printmaker. These images show Fortune as an inconstant, unpredictable goddess who dispenses good or bad luck regardless of personal status.

    Vrouwe Fortuna staat samen met een man die een lauwerkrans in de handen houdt op een wip. Haar kant helt naar beneden. De wipplank is geplaatst op de rug van een dolfijn. Een regenboog op de achtergrond. De prent heeft een Nederlands onderschrift en is deel van een zesdelige serie van spreekwoorden over Fortuna.
