The Entry into Jerusalem

Schelte Adamsz. Bolswert (mentioned on object), 1612

Riding on an ass’ foal Jesus approaches the city surrounded by believers waving to him with palm branches. Others spread their cloaks on the ground for him. Large prints such as these were meant to be framed and hung on the wall. For those who could afford it, a professional colourist was contracted to transform the print into a painting on paper.
