Getting started with the collection:
Plate
anonymous, c. 1700 - c. 1799
The kraak style remained popular for a long time. The painting on this later piece is no longer so precise. The blue of Japanese kraak ware is darker than its Chinese counterpart and the porcelain is somewhat thicker. Although areas of glaze are often missing on the rims of Chinese kraak ware, this is never the case with Japanese kraak porcelain.
