Trees in the wind

Jacques de Gheyn (II), 1598 - 1608

A breeze seems to be blowing in this drawing. With fluid and rhythmic lines Jacques de Gheyn created the impression of trees swaying in the wind. De Gheyn was not interested so much in making a naturalistic depiction, as giving free rein to his imagination.
