Blue Wave

Takeuchi Seihô (signed by artist), 1905

Takeuchi Seiho was one of the artists who revitalized Japanese painting in the early 20th century. He introduced naturalism to the rendering of nature, making studies in which he strove to depict the right moment. Here, he carefully chose just such a moment, capturing two henomena at once: the splashing waves and the water flowing over the rock.
