Signage for Schiphol Airport
Benno Wissing, 1967
Signposts at Schiphol Airport served as calming beacons for nervous air passengers. For the new terminal designed by interior designer Kho Liang Ie (1927-1975), in 1967 Wissing devised a crystal-clear system of exceptional simplicity: text indicated the destination, arrows the direction, yellow stood for arrival and departure, everything else was green. Jan Hoogervorst developed the efficacious light boxes.
