Bear and Crab

Mori Ippô (mentioned on object), 1808 - 1871

Just like Sosen, Ippo strove to express the essence of animals in ink. He made an interesting composition juxtaposing the large bear with the small crab and the pale rock with the dark bear. The interaction between the animals provides a cheerful note. This kind of visually creative work was in great demand in Kyoto’s art market.
