anonymous, c. 1600 - c. 1699

This plate was produced in Kerman in southeast Iran. It is decorated with a central Chinese landscape, enclosed by narrow panels containing propitious symbols alternating with wider panels with flowers and banana leaves. The dish is signed on the back by the potter ‘Made by Kamâl al-Din Muhammad.’

  • Description

    Bord van kwarts-fritgoed, beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw. Op het plat een medaillon met een rivierlandschap met bomen en boten. Om het medaillon een decoratieve band. De rand is verdeeld in afwisselend brede en smalle vakken. In de brede vakken een van de kostbaarheden (artemisiablad) of een bloemtak. De smalle vakken met strikken. De decoratie is een imitatie van het Chinese kraakporselein in blauw-wit. Gemerkt op de achterzijde met 'Vervaardigd door Kamâl al-Din Muhammad'.
