In Batavia European-style furniture was made for use by the local Dutch elite. This ebony cabinet may have been fashioned by an Indonesian woodworker in Batavia and is decorated with floral vines incorporating Indonesian and Dutch pictorial motifs.

    Kabinet op onderstel van ebbenhout. De vier getorste poten rusten op bollen en vertonen huizen verbonden door een dubbel Y-vormig kruis. Het onderstel heeft een lade, het kabinet twee deuren waarachter vier laden (1-2-1) onder een open vak. Voor-, boven- en zijkanten en de voorkanten van de laden in het interieur zijn versierd met gestoken lotusranken; in de bovenhoeken van de deuren vogels. Beslag van koper. Nederlands-Indië, tweede helft 17de eeuw.
