Wine cooler
Tielman Sluyter, 1713
Wine coolers were used during receptions to cool and rinse glasses. Glasses were either dipped upside down or suspended in ice water. These heavy silver coolerswere among the most valuable household items and often remained in the family for generations. The couple Alexander van Bylandt and Anna van der Duyn had this one engraved with their family coats of arms.
