Kardinaal Antoon Perrenot de Granvelle, 1517-1586, raadsheer van landvoogdes Margaretha van Parma, 1559-1564. Vermoedelijk oude copie naar een verloren origineel door Willem Key. Gedateerd 1565.<BR />Granvelle werd in 1538 benoemd tot Bisschop van Atrecht; in 1550 nam hij de diplomatieke functies in dienst van het Habsburgse hof over van zijn vader. Hij was de voornaamste adviseur van de landvoogdes, sinds 1561 als kardinaal-aartsbisschop van Mechelen bovendien de invloedrijkste kerkelijke autoriteit.
