Poster Prowodnik-Pneu Columb

Max Schwarzer, c. 1900 - c. 1914

The invention of the rubber pneumatic tyre revolutionized the burgeoning automotive industry from 1900 onwards. The Prowodnik factory in Riga, Latvia, was one of the largest rubber factories in the world. Max Schwarzer designed this poster for the German market. Diagonal pink stripes and four Columb automobile tyres surround the figure. This dynamic design captures the spirit of machines and modern man with dust goggles and a cigarette.
