Views of the Estate Spieringshoek between Schiedam and Vlaardingen

Cornelis Pronk, c. 1750

Cornelis Pronk became well known for his topographical drawings and porcelain designs, after having moved away from painting portraits. He travelled widely throughout the Netherlands to draw cities, towns, and landscapes, sometimes focusing on specific buildings. The resulting output is characterized by airy and picturesque compositions. These four drawings feature the Spieringshoek estate just outside Rotterdam.
