Hip cloth (Sarong)

‘Ikat’ is an Indonesian term referring to a textile patterning method involving resist dyeing the threads before weaving. The dark colour of the background and the bands of ikat warp threads are typical of Sawu Island in eastern Indonesia. The large floral patterns denote high social standing.
