River Landscape with a Port

Yuan Yao, 1751

This landscape featuring an expansive, panoramic view of the surroundings from above, is quite unusual in Chinese painting. Yuan Yao worked in the port city of Yangzhou, where the Yangtze River meets the Grand Canal. This is probably an actual view of the port city of Yangzhou.
