Yuan Yao (signed by artist), 1748

The travellers in this landscape seem to be on their way to the inn in the valley, on the left side of the painting. The painters Yuan Yao and his uncle Yuan Jiang were famous for their monumental landscapes. Such paintings were highly suitable for the reception room of a large mansion.
