Dish depicting Ma Gu and a European coat of arms

Would the European commissioner of this dish have understood this wish of good fortune? The woman is the immortal Ma Gu, the goddess of longevity. Dressed in a deerskin, she holds a vase upside down. The yellow gourd on her belt contains wine from lingzhi, the mushroom of immortality. Her characteristic long, birdlike fingernails are not depicted here.

Description
Schotel van porselein, beschilderd op het glazuur in blauw, rood, roze, groen, geel, zwart en goud. Op het plat twee wandelende personen in een landschap met bomen, bergen en een rivier; de vrouw links heeft een bloemenvaas in haar handen. Op de wand een ongeïdentificeerd familiewapen met drie takken tegen een witte achtergrond omgeven door krulwerk en bloemtakken. Het helmteken is tevens drie takken. Aan de overzijde op de wand een onleesbaar monogram met bloemtakken. Verder op de wand tweemaal een vogel op een tak. Oud label op de onderzijde met 'Van Sorgen Metelerkamp?'. Wapenporselein met emailkleuren.
