Tea caddy. Japan, central Honshû, Okayama prefecture. 17th century. Stoneware, Bizen ware, Inbe type. Bizen stoneware is dark brown in colour and unglazed. The large stain is the result of ash remains. Westendorp bequest.

    Stoftheebus of chaire van steengoed met een ivoren deksel, gedeeltelijk bedekt met een groenbruin glazuur. Het onderste deel van de bus is ongeglazuurd. Oud label aan de binnenzijde met 'Bizen'. Op de onderzijde een ongeïdentificeerd merk of signatuur in rood. Bizen.
