Ishikawa Jōzan, c. 1620 - c. 1670

This imposing calligraphic inscription ‘one thought, three thousand’ references the all-encompassing nature of true insight. Jozan, a renowned scholar, poet, and calligrapher, painted this adage in a distinctive script form, with some brushstrokes resembling the shape of a bird.

    Kalligrafie met monumentale, éénregelige spreuk van vier karakters: '一念三千', ichi nen san zen', 'één gedachte drie duizend'. Zegels: '凹凸窠夫六六山洞', 'Ōtotsu sōfu roku-roku sandō', 'meester van het naar beneden gegetuimelde nest - berg grot van de 36 dichters' en '頑仙子', 'gansenshi', 'koppige kluizenaar'. Houten doos met papieren hoes.
