Seated Buddha

anonymous, c. 1700 - c. 1800

This Buddha makes the same gesture as the adjacent gilded image, only here the emphasis lies on the Buddha’s royal and supernatural aspects. The narrow dais rises upwards. The figure wears a fantastical crown with wings and five points, the central one of which extends high above the others, suggesting mystical power.
