White and Black (no. 27)

Marlow Moss, 1948

‘I don't see form, I only see space, movement and light,’ Moss said. Working in Paris, Normandy, Cornwall, and Zeeland, the artist sought a new harmony of lines. Moss wrote that the absence of natural forms of such works might generate a sense of alienation. Viewers were encouraged to see the lines as musical notes in a visual sound composition.
