Most portrait prints bear the names of the makers and the sitters. Prints that lack them are sometimes puzzling. This rare etching of an elderly man in a fur coat, for example, was long attributed to the 17th-century artist Jan Lievens, a friend of Rembrandt. The print, however, dates from the 18th century, and its creator remains unknown for now.
