Massacre of the Innocents in London

Jan Sluijters (mentioned on object), in or before 1917-06-23

From as early as 1914, the German air force bombed the English cities using aircraft and zeppelins. This print was published following an air raid on 13 June 1917 on London in which 162 innocent people – including 16 primary school children – were killed. Like in a competition, the Biblical king Herod, who was responsible for mass child murder in Bethlehem, congratulates the German emperor Wilhelm II on his win.
