New York Street
Fred Zinnemann, 1932
Film and photography are closely interrelated. The well-known Hollywood director Zinneman had already been an avid photographer as a young man. He left Paris for New York in 1929, and began taking atmospheric shots of this overwhelming metropolis. He photographed the modern city from above and recorded views of diminutive figures scurrying among tall, slender sky-scrapers, as seen here.
