Henry Casimir iwas wearing this buff coat (buff-jerkin) as part of his armour when he was fatally struck by a bullet in July 1640 outside the fortified town of Hulst during the Eighty Years’ War. The buff coat, with the bullet hole in the lower back, was kept as a family relic in the collection of the Frisian stadtholders, together with the bullet and bone fragments from the wound. 22
