Percussieslot met messing huis en ijzeren hamer. Het huis moet in de lengterichting aan de rechterzijde tegen de slotverhevenheid bevestigd worden met twee bouten. De hamer draait om haar as tussen twee wangen en heeft een gat in de schacht voor het aftrektouw. Hij komt onder een hoek terecht op het slagpijpje, dat in een gat in het huis (het aambeeld) wordt gezet; de vlam komt aan de andere zijde het huis weer uit en komt in de pan terecht.

Explanatory note

  • Dit slot, het percussietoestel N° 1, werd het reguliere percussieslot van de Nederlandse Marine. Dit ontwerp voorkwam dat de vlam uit het zundgat de hamer met geweld zou worden teruggeslagen.

Entry

Percussion lock consisting of a brass body and an iron hammer.

The body is mounted lengthwise at the right-hand side of the vent patch with two bolts. The hammer turns on an axle between two small cheeks and has a hole for the lanyard in the shaft. It strikes the primer at an angle, set in a hole in the body (called the anvil); the spark comes out at the other end of the body and is passed to the vent.

This lock, called percussion lock N° 1, became the regulation percussion lock of the Dutch Navy. The design prevented the flame that comes out of the vent from violently striking the hammer back.
