Powder Chest

Vierkant koperen kruitkist met twee handvaten en een rond deksel. Het deksel is voorzien van een wervelsluiting, bestaande uit een messing staaf die draait om een bout in het midden van het deksel en zich onder twee nokken op de buitenrand van de opening vastklemt; met de bout wordt hij vervolgens aangedraaid.

Square copper powder chest with two handles and a round lid.

The lid has a pressure lock, consisting of a brass bar that pivots on a bolt in the middle of the cover, which engages beneath two notches on the outside of the opening’s rim and is tightened by means of the pivot bolt.

This is the large N° 1 pattern powder chest for cartridges. This type was used until well into the twentieth century.
