Weerbare democratie. Tentoonstelling volk in verzet (Resilient Democracy. Exhibition of People in Resistance)

Dick Elffers, 1946

The exhibition Resilient Democracy opened at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam less than a year after the end of the Second World War. It showcased a national history in which the ‘people in resistance’ came to the fore. The poster’s design is consistent with this: a soldier nestles within the civilian figure. This copy is probably a proof, printed on a sheet of coupons.
